Debuting in 1980, the Uniflite 48 made it's debut onto the tournament sportfishing scene with a strong presence from an unlikely source: the Pacific Northwest. Built and designed to compete with the top dogs in the sportfishing world, the Uniflite 48 made it's entry to the market known. At this time, Uniflite had two factories, one in Bellingham, WA and the other in Swansboro, North Carolina providing the ability to build boats on either side of the country.
In April of 1984 Uniflite Inc. was purchased by Murray Chris Craft. With the desire to expand their line of pleasure boats Chris Craft sought out one of the finest big game boat builders in America. The combined facilities gave Chris Craft six manufacturing plants in five states, building over 70 models from 16' to 66'.
The 48 Convertible will widely be known and recognized as one of the finest riding (and best looking) production sportfishers built during this era. Featuring a heavy design, this boat is no lightweight and performs beautifully when seas get rough and provides a perfect platform for West Coast fishing and pleasure cruising up and down the coast down into Mexico or up into her original stomping grounds in the Northwest.
